WELCOME TO

KAILASH, MANSAROVAR

From 1st September – 13th September 2025

An inner calling

Some heights are not meant to be conquered, they’re meant to be revered.

My first journey to Mount Kailash and Lake Mansarovar began almost 30 years ago. I was trekking from beyond Bhimtal to the Narayan Ashram, en route to Kailash basking in the sheer glory of the mountains, when my mind wandered to a conversation I once had with Gurudev.

I had asked him, “Why are most spiritually significant places located at such high altitudes — often out of reach for most?”

He replied, “Because by the time you reach the top, your ideas about yourself must fall away. Who you think you are must dissolve. Only then can you truly know His presence and allow the sacred energies to transform your very being.”

In a world obsessed with doing and achieving, Kailash teaches the power of non-doing. To simply complete the parikrama — to walk around Kailash — is enough. There is no conquest here… only surrender.

Jagriti Kajaria

Meet your facilitator

Jagriti Kajaria had an atypical childhood. While she had a quintessential and well rounded education which included a degree in Food technology, training in Kathak, Bharatnatyam and Mountaineering she also attended camps with Swami Chinmayananda to study the ancient Indian Scriptures.

It was through her spiritual education which included the study of various scriptures and divinatory sciences with spiritual gurus such as Swami Chinmayananda, Avdhoot Shivanand, and Shri Kashinathan Iyer, that she uncovered her life’s purpose.

With her innate foresight into the world of healing and energy, she could harness the essence of different elements of nature from the places she travelled to. This helped her heal and dig deeper into the abundant healing energy of Mother Earth.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the spiritual significance of the Kailash Yatra?

Mount Kailash is the axis / mundi — the spiritual center of the world. Hindus regard it as Shiva’s eternal abode. Buddhists see it as Mount Meru, while Jains revere it as Ashtapada and Bon followers as the source of all energy.

Insight: One Parikrama is believed to wash away lifetimes of karma. 108 Parikramas are said to lead to liberation (moksha). This is not tourism — this is inner transformation.

Where exactly is Mount Kailash located?

Located in Tibet’s Ngari , it lies near the origins of the Indus, Sutlej, Brahmaputra, and Karnali rivers.

Insight: These four sacred rivers flowing from one source symbolize the flow of consciousness from the divine to the earthly.

When is the best time to go on the Kailash Yatra?

Ideal months: May to September.

Tip: Full moon nights, especially at Lake Manasarovar, are potent for meditation, energy downloads, and karmic release.

How can I reach Mount Kailash?

Routes:

  • Nepal Route (Kathmandu → Tibet) – most common for groups

Note: The Nepal route offers more flexibility for spiritual groups.

Is the Yatra physically demanding?

Absolutely.

  • Parikrama is 52 km over 3 days( horses are available )
  • Includes Dolma La Pass (18,600 ft) – the toughest stretch

Insight: Dolma La symbolizes ego death. Many pilgrims leave behind a personal item here — a symbolic release of past karmas.

Do I need a visa or permits?

Yes.

  • Chinese Group Visa
  • Tibet Entry Permit
  • Kailash & Manasarovar Special Permit

Note: These are managed by tour operators; solo entry is not allowed. This takes 30-35 days to go through . This registrations will have to close 35 days before the date of departure .

What is Lake Manasarovar and why is it sacred?

A holy lake created by Brahma’s will — reflecting purity and divinity.

Insight: A sunrise dip is believed to activate the crown chakra and cleanse mental afflictions. Some feel immense peace just by sitting in silence by its shores.

Are medical facilities available?

Very limited in Tibet. Carry:

  • Personal medicines, Diamox (altitude), basic first aid
  • Insurance with evacuation coverage

Tip: Prepare your mind to remain calm. Panic often triggers physical reactions at altitude.

What accommodations should I expect?

  • Tents, dorms, or lodges in Tibet (basic). Although a few hotels have come up in the recent past making this yatra way more simpler .
  • Hotels in Kathmandu

Insight: Simplicity strips ego. Accept the discomfort as part of your purification.

What should I pack for the Yatra?

  • Layered warm clothes, thermals, raincoat
  • Trekking shoes, UV sunglasses, gloves
  • Spiritual tools: mala, journal, Shiva yantra
  • Valid ID, passport, water bottle, energy snacks

Tip: Carry dry prasad for offering and sharing.( optional , as there is no temple at Kailash’s or Mansarovar )

Can I take photographs at Kailash?

Yes, but restricted in sacred areas.

  • Drones are prohibited
  • North Face (Dirapuk) a closest view of kailash is the best for photographers.

Tip: Let your heart do the capturing. Many say the most vivid Kailash memories are felt, not seen.

Is it safe for solo travelers and women?

Yes, especially with reputable groups.

Spiritual Note: Many women speak of feeling “held” or “watched over” by a divine presence. The mountain’s energy is deeply maternal too.

Can elderly or health-challenged individuals go?

Generally discouraged for those above 70 years or with heart/lung conditions. Medical fitness is mandatory.

Insight: The real climb is internal. Prepare body, breath, and intent.

Is there mobile connectivity or internet?

No reliable network once inside Tibet.

Insight: This digital silence helps real silence emerge. Record your inner journey in a notebook instead of online posts.

What spiritual practices can I do during the Yatra?

  • Parikrama with mantras
  • Silence during walks
  • Meditation at Lake Manasarovar
  • Journaling and prayer

Bonus Insight: Dreams often become vivid here — many pilgrims receive guidance, closure, or symbols in their dreams. Write them down.
